The optimal function of cartilage cells depends on the intensity of protein synthesis in them. Protein biosynthesis is the process of forming new proteins in cells and is a basic process of gene expression, in which proteins are built from amino acids according to genetic information. This process is necessary for cell growth and for the performance of their basic functions. Proteins regulate all important processes in the body.
Protein synthesis occurs efficiently in a young organism. That is why organs and systems function well in the young. During cellular protein metabolism, proteins are broken down into smaller fractions = peptides. In addition, biological peptides have tissue specificity – they can be absorbed only by cells of the tissue from which they originate. Cartilage peptides can be absorbed only by cartilage cells.
